<p>Langebaan is an idyllic little seaside town on the South African West Coast. It is located at the edge of the tranquil Langebaan lagoon, 100km north of Cape Town. Founded in 1922, this historical town was once a whaling station and it has now been transformed into a holiday destination and is a mecca for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts. The lagoon is part of a protected area, the West Coast National Park - a world-renowned birding spot with migratory birds from as far as Russia stopping here annually. The jewel of the West Coast towns, Langebaan will leave you with memories of a startling blue sea, acres of spring flowers and the enticing smell of fish ‘braais’ (barbeques).&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>During the South African summer months, from November to April, Langebaan is one the most wind-sure locations on the Planet. The climate at this time of year is perfect, with temperatures in the high 20s / low 30s. The lagoon offers a huge flat water area with many shallow sections, making this an ideal beginner or improver kitesurf destination. During this time of year, there is no better location to learn to kitesurf or improve. Langebaan is also one of the best locations for kite foiling; it is literally perfect.&nbsp;<br></p><p>Kitesurf lessons are normally taken on the main kite beach of Langebaan, or if the wind is too strong, Shark Bay (don't worry, that are not actually any sharks!), offers lighter wind conditions&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Langebaan lagoon is one of the biggest lagoons in the world, with bright blue waters and a large waist-deep section, ideal for learning the basics. The wind is very reliable as it is channelled between the hills around, picking up mostly at the end of the morning. Some parts have perfectly flat water, while you can also find bumpy and wavy waters, all in very close proximity to the hotels and centre.&nbsp;<br></p>

<p>Langebaan lagoon, around 90 minutes drip from Cape Town airport in South Africa, is one the very best Wing Foiling locations in the world from October to March. Sometimes it can be too windy in the afternoons, so if you are a beginner, it is sometimes best to get out in the mornings. <p></p>Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>You will start with the basics; this includes setup of your equipment, safety features that you will utilise and how to fly a small 2metre trainer kite. When your instructor feels you are ready you can then head to the water. On day one you will only be using the kite and not go on the board just yet. Entering the water is when the fun starts! Here you will be taught how to properly fly an inflatable kitesurfing kite, how to control your kite and what to do if you crash it in the water. On day one you will be comfortable flying the kite and know what to do in any situation.<br><br>You will then move on to the board lessons. What does that mean? Well it is time to get up on the board now. You will practice using the kite to generate pull and you will learn how to get the kite to pull you without the board first. The idea is to get used to how the kite behaves when asked to pull you. Once confident doing this you will learn how to put the board on your feet and after that, how to get up on the board. Most people will manage to do a few metres on the board by the end of the course.<div><p></p></div></div>

Windtown Kite and Wingfoil School

<p>Group lessons are great value for money and lots of fun, but if you are looking for rapid progression, we recommend upgrading to private or semi-private lessons (see other courses, or please call us for advice).</p><p>Group kitesurf lessons are normally upto a maximum of 4 students per instructor.&nbsp; The two students normally share a kite. Lessons are normally taken in 2 to 3 hour sessions, but depend on the local wind and sea conditions. Some centres will shorten the hours if they have less students as they will be able to cover the same course structure in a shorter time. Lessons are dependent on local conditions.</p>

<p>Private 1-1 kitesurf instruction is the best and fastest way to learn to kitesurf, improve, or master a specific trick or move. Lessons are normally in 1-2 hour sessions, but you can discuss this with your personal instructor.</p>

Guaranteed fast progression with a private lessons

<p>Learn how to fly with a foil. Specially trained instructors will help you to safely manage your first flights. The only risk will be that you get hooked and never want anything else after that lesson! This course includes your board, kite, bar, harness, helmet, wetsuit, life jacket, insurance, and assistance from a rescue boat.<br></p>

Kiteboarding Collective

<p></p><p>For anyone who has never tried windsurfing before, during this windsurf course, you will learn the very basics of Windsurfing. This includes how to lift the sail up from the water to your first rides in both directions. Groups are rarely more than 6 people.<br></p><p>Your course includes board, sail, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.</p><p>Never been on a board but feels like the water and wind are calling your name? In the beginner course, you&nbsp;will learn the basics, such as how to stand up on the board, how to go upwind, and the basics and theory of jibing and tacking. You will understand the directions of the wind and gradually will gain confidence on the water! Introductory lessons typically take place either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the wind conditions.&nbsp;<br></p><p></p>

Cape Sports

<p></p><p>For anyone who has never tried windsurfing before, during this windsurf course, you will learn the very basics of Windsurfing. This includes how to lift the sail up from the water to your first rides in both directions. Private lessons include one on one instruction, ensuring fast progression.<br></p><p>Your course includes board, sail, wetsuit, life jacket and insurance.</p><br><p></p>

<p>Daily rental of boards, rig and sails. Most centres will 'fix' your ideal board size to ensure availability, but you have access to all available equipment. It is important to pre-book your windsurf rental as part of your holiday to be sure of availability, especially over the high season periods. Rental can only be used on consecutive days. Please note that local prices can be significantly more expensive than pre-booked prices.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If you really want to progress as quickly as possible, or feel that you could really benefit from a private instructor, this is the best you can get. Have a highly experienced Wing Foiling instructor take you all the way from total beginner, to up and riding 'on the foil'. Sessions are generally 2 hours each (can be longer if you are very fit and willing), including full equipment (wetsuit, board, wing, foil). Most schools use radio helmets or teach from a boat/jetski. For a total beginner, we recommend a minimum of 8 hours, ideally 10 hours, to get you to a level you can practice.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p>
